Hi Jim,
Astron tends to rate their supplies VERY conservatively. The RS-70 could
really put out nearly 70 amps continuous with no problem other than
getting hot. I had an RS-35 and many times I peaked the thing above 40
amps or so. I never had a problem. I now have an RS-50 and it works
swimmingly. You should have no problem draining 70 amps through that
supply let alone 60.
You may wish to choke the DC power lines with an Amidon or other suitable
type 77 torroid.
I doubt it's the supply.
