{snip} Gents, suppose a guy wants to build a *portable* 1.5KW output amplifier. Would a 8877 be a good tube to use for that or is there something better, more rugged, etc? {snip} The key to the matter is weight and volume, not to mention vibration stress. What do you consider portable? How long a set-up are you considering? A weekend, a month? What type of transport for the gear? How will you containerize the equipment? Someone on this reflector actually had a two-piece Alpha 77Sx in a hotel room. In other words, there are many considerations. Would you care to elucidate?
