The discussion has always assumed some capacitance to provide ripple
filtering and some additional voltage regulation.
In a perfect world as usually seen in models, the C can go to infinity and
there is always an improvement on the way up.
In the real world it usually depends on what level of ripple is acceptable.
A SSB amp is less critical of ripple than an AM modulator. The voltage
regulation benefit of more C is limited by the various suppy resistances and
in my experience is reached at around 16-20 uF with a modern transformer.
