Comments:
Almost all Sunday after the CW Sprint. I made 6 analog contacts at the start
and then moved to FT8 for the rest. With only one feedline to the VHF
"pole" and no switch, I stuck with 6 until late afternoon Sunday. I
made a run out to the antennas to switch to 2 meters on an untested FO12 and
hooked up my old DEM 2meter transverter to the second half of a Flex 6600m. I
crossed my fingers, hit the Tune button and was pleasantly surprised to find it
and the antenna were working perfectly! It was a bit of a struggle with 30
watts into about 600 ft of coax, but I managed 52 Qs and 23 grids with a bit of
work.
The last half hour I realized I could load up my shorty 40 on 6 and do a little
low power 2BSIQ action. In the last couple of minutes I got N0LL in EM09 to hear
me on 6 meters using 50 watts into the shorty 40 meter antenna! Fun stuff! 73,
Ty K3MM
