Comments:
My two hours in this contest consisted of checking back often, tuning the bands,
and working any Hawaiian station I could find--which was not many. This contest
could use more activity from the Aloha State.
This is the first time I've participated in the HQP. If participation was
up-ended because of the recent forest fires, or heavy competition from the Ohio
and Kansas QSO Parties, then I table my complaint; we'll see what next year's is
like.
The event was not helped by soggy band conditions, either. Stations became
audible only late afternoon and early evening, and most were very weak here in
the east. I worked only CW because the SSB stations were just too weak to copy.
