Comments:

I left a restaurant at the north end of Brooklin and noted a heavy police
presence
while driving north less than a km to FN03mx. Parked in an access area on the
east side of the road. Soon I saw a police officer exiting his cruiser and
coming
towards me. I raised the 817 in view to show, and explained what I was doing.
He very politely requested I leave the area now and not return till tomorrow.

The Hells Angels bikers were having a meeting further north to hand out patches
etc. This saw lots of media attention last year, but I forgot all about it. I
asked him to come to the rear of the vehicle, and opened the tailgate. The
first
item I reached for was a qsl card from October 2009 for VC3COPP. For those
unaware, the call reads as follows:

VC - Canada
 3 - Ontario
COPP - Centennial Ontario Provincial Police, got his attention.

Next -

A 30th Anniversary Celebration card from the Durham Police Auxiliary Unit in
2007.

He said my antenna looked like a cop antenna and did not want the bikers seeing
it. I left for FN04na at 1100 fasl. At no time did I hear any signals on the
band, but with the vast majority using digi that is no surprise. I knew I was
transmitting, but nobody there to hear me.

The police activity was the excitement for the night, broke the loneliness.

Thanks to all supporting the Spring Sprints and to all who participated.
Looking forward to more and will be better prepared. I was only running 400 mW
to a hamstick so no rf burns from the 817 set at 500 W. Actually was QRP(P)

73,

Bill VE3CRU/R
