This is a new high score for me for GQP.
When I got started Saturday, I thought the noise was especially high, until I
realized my N$ was off (it gets turned off when doing FT8).
Despite what seemed to me to be lackluster conditions (at least compared to say,
ARRL DX (either one) this year), saturday was pretty productive. I ended the
day with 492 Qs. Sunday was slow. I wasn't sure I was going to beat my Q count
for last year until about the last hour. Runs on Saturday were longer (I
started off with an 85Q run on 20) and had higher rates than on Sunday.
15 and 10 were mostly too long for this contest, except for getting quick
contacts with DL3DXX and OM2VL. Both were there right away when I moved to 15
and 10 CW on Sunday. At one point, I checked RBN for where I was being heard on
15 and 10, and it was all DX locations. I picked up a few more DX on 15 later
in the day (as slow as Sunday was, why not try it?), along with a few west
coasters. Worked both DL3DXX and HC5DX on 5 bands.
I think I need to tweak the receive audio on the 7300 for SSB, as I had trouble
hearing some calls what should have been loud enough to copy without that much
trouble.
Nevertheless, it was fun. Looking forward to next year.
