Comments:
This was a remote operation since the cottage is closed for the winter. The
internet worked relatively well throughout, but I of course had to deal with the
high latency and packet loss, which was particularly bad for some periods during
the contest.
Since 15m is useless at the moment due to extremely high power line noise level
(S8), and since I haven't re-installed a 160m antenna since the tornado struck
last spring, I decided to enter the 3-band category (40, 20 and 10m). I did
spend a fair amount of time on 80m in the evening for fun, but I only touched
15m briefly to pick up the few very strong stations that rose above my noise
floor. 80m was noisy but it was workable. The breakdown for the two bands not
reported above is as follows:
80m 107 QSOs 602 points 30 DXC 14 sections
15m 8 QSOs 60 points 4 DXC 3 sections
As an all-band entry, this would be 1017 QSOs, a total multiplier of 220 and a
score of 1,216,600 with 18 hours operating time.
This is a fun contest with lots of activity. Hopefully, I'll be able to fix my
noise problem when we open the cottage in the spring to allow me to enter the
all-band category next year.
Thanks for all the QSOs, and for bearing with me when I had to ask for repeats
due to garbled reception.
