Comments:
As others have noted, CQ WW falling on US Thanksgiving weekend creates
complications, since it is family time among many folks.
Fortunately, I have supportive family -- we've agreed to celebrate Thanksgiving
on a Canadian calendar, and my wife has agreed to shift our anniversary
celebration so as not to conflict with the test.
Unfortunately, one member of the family, who goes by the name of Murphy, didn't
get the memo about rescheduling family time.
Murphy made his presence known by introducing an intermittent issue with the
160m antenna, a new noise source that appeared for the first time Friday
evening, and a computer that decided to misbehave, forcing me to take my lunch
break a bit earlier on Sunday than I would have liked.
I would have liked to break 2m, but under the circumstances....
Conditions were better Saturday than Sunday -- I wish someone had bribed the sun
to cooperate a bit more. Still, it was nice to have a decent amount of
activity on 10m, which more than offset 80m and 160m being disappointing --
heard many more stations on 80m than could hear me, and I don't think I managed
to get to another hemisphere on 160m. (I don't have the greatest setup for 160,
but usually I can work EU in a contest.)
Station:
Flex 6600
2×fan dipoles @ 15m for 10-40
Carolina Windom @ 20m for 80
Inverted L with folded counterpoise for 160
