Thanks to Michele, IZ4ZZB for hosting us. He was a terrific host and he and his
wife were very helpful to us. Michele has two K3 to yagis for 10, 15 and 20. The
15 and 20 were on the same rotator. He has a four square on 40m and a full size
vertical on 80m. His QTH is in a light residential area. The station was very
nice with air conditioning! The antennas were away in a large garden.
We learned a lot about the propagation from this experience as neither of us had
operated from EU before. There were many times that the bands were open to AS/JA
and NA at the same time. The WRTC antennas will probably work very well for that
experience. We did not hear much activity on SSB other than HQ stations but did
try to call CQ often. 10m SSB was very good early morning with some surprise
multipliers calling in. 20m was open for the 24 hours and NA was there most of
the night.
The after the contest reception at Claudio, IK2YCW was very nice. Great ham
spirit with other teams. We look forward to next year as the hosts are very nice
and helpful.
Thanks for the QSOs and 73
Scott, NE9U and Craig, K9CT
