Comments:
Due to a BBQ dinner invite with friends Saturday afternoon and evening, I was
unable to join up with any of the local FD groups in my area for FD. So,
operated when I was able from the home station. Really missed not being able to
man a CW station during the midnight to 4am shift somewhere. I have already
marked next years calendar for FD, so nothing else can be scheduled that
weekend!
Even though I was using commercial power, my antenna situation, still with the
low cobbled together 17' high wire and gutter 160m dipole, made it feel a bit
(lot) like operating FD conditions! I've become accustomed to what good and bad
band conditions sound like on this contraption, and conditions were not the best
by any means. My NVIS drop zones seemed pretty consistent on 40, 20, and 15m to
call areas 1/3/5/9/, as I swept those call areas on those three bands. Lots of
TX in the log on all three! Ended up with 54 US sections and 6 VE. Even put
together a nice little run early Sunday morning on 40m.
Only one TCG in the log, N8UM on Sunday.
Thanks for all the Qs!
