Comments:
M/S LP entry by ZB2TT and MM0GOR as he was visiting ZB for the weekend.
Operating time: 31:28 hours. Rig: IC-7300 100w Software: N1MM+ Antenna 20m-10m:
Hex Beam @5m only. No space for low band antennas meant that we could not
operate on 40/80/160 at all.
Contesting from ZB continues to bring some serious challenges, little space and
high population density do not help for antenna space or QRM.
10m – Numerous SA stations were workable in the afternoon on Saturday, but
less so on Sunday. Another handful of SA on Sunday afternoon and a short NA
opening around 15:00z for an hour or so.
15m - Mostly conditions to EU in the morning/afternoon and NA openings late
afternoon/evening. The band stayed open until around 20:30z both evenings. Some
strong SA stations around, but very little AF, AS or OC. Only 2x JA’s and a
nice surprise from WH7T in Hawaii before the band closed on Sunday evening.
20m – Strong EU conditions throughout the contest on this band, although there
was a very frustrating drop in EU QSO rate around lunchtime both afternoons,
returning a couple of hours later (maybe 100w and the low antenna location is
just not enough to break through the afternoon EU QRM). Conditions were open to
VK just after sunrise on Saturday and there was a little short path opening to
JA around 1hr after sunset on Saturday, but not so much to either region on
Sunday. NA openings were late around 22:00z both evenings.
Thanks for the points.
