Comments:
What do you get when you have a grizzled 79 and 14/12th's veteran op, a half
blind op, and a station in the middle of the desert? A darned good time!
Friday at the start reminded us of the old days... hopping 10/15m to Asia! 20m
was the band that never really popped here as compared to the previous contests
to date. Saturday and Sunday 15m to EU was a lot of fun compared to W6
experiences. Our first night at JA sunset was very nice on 40m.
On 40M SSB we purposely park a 4 el at VK... while this held to be a good
decision, the big surprise was the need for a 10m 4-6 el parked there... we
worked just as many VK's on 10m as we did on 40m which was quite a surprise!
Inband RX was improved by the addition of a 20m RX vertical with 20 radials that
Axel, KI6RRN, and I installed for NAQP. 10m and 15m RX verticals to come.
The Icom 7610's were used to great avail for getting in tight, filtering, the
clear pan, and to monitor 10m on a third radio. It's minimized phase noise
really helps in our multi transmitter environment.
Thanks to K6AM (who it appears was part of the winning MSHP outside of the USA)
for his continued support of the station... without his Skunkworkz black boxes
we wouldn't of been able to work so well as a team here.
