Comments:
The older I get the less I like phone contests. Some of that is due to high
frequency hearing loss which makes it more difficult to copy calls. In the past
I've had some good European runs on phone but this time, after a short run on 15
Sunday morning, I quit in frustration and went to S&P. You hate to be an
alligator! I was able to run JAs - you don't have to pull them through the East
Coast wall and they are much more disciplined than the Europeans.
Conditions were a bit disappointing. Despite sunspot numbers and SFI over 100, a
high A index held propagation down. It also seems like the DX participation in
this contest is less than in the past. Never the less I do enjoy the ARRL DX
Contests. Those, along with CQWW DX, are the only ones I still put in at least a
semi serious effort in.
