Comments:
First time I can ever recall operating LOW POWER. It was by necessity since
my AL1500 antenna relay gave up the ghost on Thursday. Ameritron shipped
the relay board right away and I'll have it tomorrow.
Low power proved to actually be fun. I found I could run and at one time
even hold a spot at the bottom of 20. Most of the time while S&Ping
stations came back on the first call. CQing way up high in the band, like
at 14100 and up worked out well when the band was really crowded.
With the 7610 barefoot I loved how easy it was to QSY or move stations
without switching or tuning the amp, and I could use QSK without wearing
out antenna relays! I had been running QSK with my AL1500 for about a year.
The early 1500's had an open frame relay which I thought I had , so I was
surprised when I found I could use QSK with no problem. It turns out my
older 1500 had an open frame relay, but this 7 year old amp has a different
relay which is much faster.
