Comments:
This is a contest that we carry on in the tradition set at W6YI with lots of
additional influence from K6AM and N6MJ. It's a lot of fun Saturday as most have
mentioned and quite a job on Sunday. Nothing new there... except for some reason
we found ourselves in a surprisingly tough position after the first hour on
Saturday. Plenty of texts were coming in asking what was wrong? I could not
imagine anything wrong happening on site with the great team formed here by
W9KKN and KC7V. All that could be imagined was that we were in some kind of
propagation problem area. Nothing to make excuses by, sometimes this happens. 15
and 20 appeared to close at least an hour earlier than last year. I mention all
of this because I am absolutely thrilled with how my teammates kept so positive
throughout the weekend. Everything worked great as did each operator here.
One of the neatest things about the Online Scoreboard is having the ability to
know some of who the competition is. We had a great time racing with, spotting,
and encouraging N2NT and N6WM as fellow MS teams. While we don't know the other
teams as well, it was great to watch how great they were doing! Something of
special note... Team N2NT decided to end Saturday night, after us, with the
score being Exactly tied. What a classy move to allow us to awaken to such a
recognition of being tied and going into the typically dreaded Sweepstakes
Sunday like that!!!
As always the Icom 7610's proved to be exceptionally good performers here at
ND7K under tough conditions with demanding ops driving them in combination with
some of the latest K6AM Skunkworks(TM) Seekrit Black Boxes. This technology
definitely provided us with all that we could hope for during this contest.
Thanks also to Dan, N6MJ, for providing his customary role of Chief Strategy
Officer to Team ND7K although he was not on site.
