Comments:
Always like this contest - although it would be better with WRTC format. But
still fun. The summer conditions really force you to "not do what you
normally do" in a contest.
Conditions were not good going in although at least no thunderstorms to deal
with. But Tropical Storm Elsa was off the coast of Maine and Nova Scotia really
making 40 and 80 noisy.
Had a coax issue about 4 hours in and decided to get it fixed if I could. Lost
45 minutes but fixed it. Need to rebuild my house entry panel as its becoming
flaky. Time to just pull it a part and rebuild. Work for another day before CQ
WW SSB.
Took a nap at 06Z. Didn;t think that I was going to beat last years score when
I did. Last year I had a nice E Skip opening on both 10 and 15M. This year a
very small one on 10M to EU but not long and virtually nothing to the South on
10M. And 15M had only a little over 100Qs at 06Z.
But what a great last few hours from 0930 - 1200Z. Worked a couple of mults on
10. Got 200 Qs in the log on 15 with a number of zone and HQ mults. Never
heard JA on any band. It usually opend at 1030Z on 20M this time of year but
nothing. In fact 20M at the end seemed disturbed in general.
Had a goal of 2000Qs and 1.5 Million. Thought it was a pipe dream last night
but actually saw it getting closer and closer in the last 3 hours. Just not
enough time left even though 10 and 15M was there for sure.
Next major contest is CQ WW SSB for me.
