Comments:
This was a frustrating experience. With high winds expected (and materialised)I
chickened out of my 75 ft vertical and used an inverted L with 45ft vertical. Rx
was the inv L and a Wellbrook Loop (which is way too close to the Tx antenna).
On the first night/morning the only Stateside signal I could reliably hear was
VY2ZM who, as always, heard me! Sunday morning was a little better with Texas
and Arizona worked but East Coast was weak and difficult. My problem was as much
hearing them as trying to work them. Local VDSL and SMPS noise is a growing
problem. Add to that the big (and sometimes wide) EU signals and it gets tough
if condx across the pond aren't so good. Oh for a beverage to receive on .....
Last year I made 2 more St/Ps and 1 more country - and that was QRP! Says it all
really.
73 & thanks for the QSOs
Chris, G3SVL / G5Q
