Comments:
Great fun with great ops in not so great conditions. There was a whole lotta
digging for QSOs down into the noise floor. THEN the other food came down. My
computer screens went blank and about a minute later, the PC restarted. An hour
or so later, it happened again. This time I had no CW keying from the keyboard
or WKUSB. Fortunately, my doubts about WKUSB reliability when I installed it
caused me to put in an a/b switch to send paddles directly to the K3S. I
programmed up the K3S CW memories and pressed on but I gave it up after three
more restarts and threw in the towel. I regret that now, but then my mindset was
a bit different. Troubleshooting the situation, I found the WKUSB in standalone
was not keying. I rotated the AAA cells and got the R. I plugged in the paddles
and it worked. I plugged in the K3S keying line and the serial port line,
restarted N1MM and had my N1MM CW keying back. Geez. I still don't know what is
causing the computer restarts, though. Otherwise, I had a great time.
73 and happy, safe, and healthy New Year
