Comments:
My fifth attempt at this contest. As usual my goal was to beat my own scores.
With slowly improving CW skills I thought I might do OK, even with 10 and 15
being essentially non-existent and 80 & 160 probably having lots of QRN.
Friday night was mostly 40, with some 20. I have to hear the call/exchange at
least once before calling. Two digit exchanges at 25 WPM are OK, above that I
needed to hear it a couple of times. Stopped at 11 PM with 47 Qs.
Saturday morning got in two hours before daughter's family arrived for
afternoon. Another hour before dinner. Back on at 7:30. 20 OK, 80 noisy, 40
crowded. Beat last years's score (my worst of the four prior years) at 8:10.
Beat my second worst score at 10:50 and quit for news and bed. ( Qs = 121 Pnts
= 451 Mults = 106 Score = 47,806)
Sunday started at 8:30. On the air off-and-on all day between errands, etc.
During the day it was slow, especially as I had to listened to a lot of CQs
while waiting to hear the exchange at least once before I called... Four digits
at >30 WPM are very tough for me.
2:03 -- beat my 2nd best score - 64,610
3:32 -- beat my best score - 69,768
8:00 -- one Q short of 100K!
Fun and intense at the same time.
