Comments:

I have been serious about operating this contest off and on for about 10 years
from Radio Oakley. This is the first time Murphy struck both my radio, and then
the station, resulting in the lowest scoring effort I have ever done from here.

My mission, I though was simple, use a flex 6600-M and PGXL amplifier 2BSIQ with
1 radio and 1 amp.

so--

The bad: 1. first hour had a corrupt DAX TX channel(flex virtual audio cable),
resulting in a heavily reduced rate due to the distortion caused allowing only a
fraction of decoders to copy me, but this was unknown to the operator. first
clue was when K9CT said "your loud but I can not print you". net
cost estimate of identifying and resolving: approx 200 qso's.

2. Then a couple of hours before the end of the contest, I lost all power to the
amp.. BUT the amp was fine, it was the 220 circuit that fried.. running both
the heater and the amp.. another rate killer.

3. Minimal EU

4. no 10 meters.

The good: "he" persisted. Although deeply disappointed with this
first ever experience technical challenge with my rig, I chose to push through
and make the best score I could for our club effort, knowing I was probably
going to get my *** kicked. losing power to the amp was an extra aww heck.. but
I carried through this as well.

Other than the software issue, the flex/PGXL combo worked perfectly. I was
aware of this occasional DAX audio corruption possibility and I should have
caught it sooner, after all it is my race car. The entire ecosystem otherwise
performed like a champ.

Conditions are what they are, I did work about a dozen EU stations, along with
other usual suspects. UK station was particularly loud, heard and missed an EA
as I was operating unassisted and he moved on when I revisited his qrg. JA
activity seemed down. 15m was relatively good for this point of the cycle,.

So.. this is my humble entry this year, Many thanks to Ken for the use of the
super station, congrats to all the diddlers out there, I have seen some
phenomenal scores.

73, and CU next time..

Chris
