Comments:
This year's WPX CW coincided with the biggest electrical storm seen in the UK
for many years. We lost about 12 station hours from enforced close-downs which
has hit the score badly. Not only that, but even when it was safe to operate,
the LF band QRN was such that only a few strong signals could be heard. All in
all a very frustrating contest, all the more because underlying HF conditions
were not bad. Let's hope that it will be another decade before we see a storm
like that during a major contest.
Good HF conditions to the US and S America, but Japan seemed less good - those
we called came straight back to us, but getting a run going to the Far East was
tough.
Banker bands were 20 and 40 of course, but 15m was well down this year and 10m
almost non-existent.
Thanks for all the QSOs
