Comments:
My operating time was limited this year because I had committed to an amateur
radio publicity event with a local club. I got started around 2115Z and only
got a little over 30 minutes of operating in before the thunder began. I was
QRT for and hour and a half, but I operated the remainder of the contest. QRN
made life difficult, and local power line noise didn't make things any easier.
That said, I was still pleased with my score given my operating time, and my
multiplier total is among my best. As N4KG noted, runs had a tendency to dry
up really fast. I had a little more luck on phone, but I had a minor problem
holding a frequency on 20. It didn't bother me because I was antsy to get back
to CW anyway!
There was propagation on 10 and 15 yet again this year, and I tried to get a
run started on both CW and phone on both bands and never got a single
response.
Thanks to AB4B and the Alabama Contest Group for keeping this event going.
It's one of the highlights of my amateur radio year.
