Challenging working phone from AZ. Could only find rovers and weak stations
using spots, but generally in the noise and an S-unit below what I could
reasonably work. Heard a lot of stations in the midwest working those
stations. Worse yet, the VT frequencies were almost preternaturally right next
to some of the strongest signals on the band here and thus were QRM'd. Had no
trouble working W1NVT's S8-S9 signal on two bands. I'm new at this, so VT
gives me another one for WAS and it looks like AZ logs are rare for this event
so maybe I gave someone a multiplier.
FT-450D, 80 watts into a magnetic loop at 15 feet, optimized for 20 meters.
