Comments:

Huge thanks to Martti for inviting us to join his year-long 70th birthday tour!

Martti sought a callsign with "70" in it for this contest and there
were surprisingly few options -- amusingly to me, one of the other finalists
was BS70H!

It was a pleasure to meet Brian, K1LI/J75Y for the first time. Martti and
Brian organized "Haminica" which was a demo of the increasingly
popular Hamsphere simulation environment. With 50 enthusiastic school kids
there, it was quite a success.

This was my second trip to the Nature Isle of Dominica, so I was happy to be
reunited with Lambert, J73LC and Donford. Antenna set-up could not have
succeeded as well without Donford's ability to scale palm trees to mount
pulleys.

Our Field Day style operation relied heavily upon the kindness of George, K5KG
who helped us in many ways. Our antennas were a C3 ~20', a W3DZZ with the
center at ~35', a 40M dipole at ~20' in the front yard (that Martti deemed the
clothesline) and a 160 wire hung sideways in a method that I think was
pioneered by K2KQ. No additional listening antennas.

Huge thanks to Yaesu for providing the rotator for the C3 which performed
flawlessly as expected!

Inside, we had a pair of K3s and SPE amps, along with a 4O3A triplexer and
bandpass filters.

We used N1MM+ on the left side and WinTest on the right side with no
networking. Internet service was not working for many days, so we happily
abandoned the use of spots in favor of a fun M/2 DXpedition style of just run,
run, run for maximum BOTA exposure.

Our simple setup was remarkably QRN and QRM free, even without the bandpass
filters on the low bands. Conditions were quite average from down here, a
sharp contrast with those in further northern locations. We enjoyed a number
of neat long path QSOs on 40 near the end, after rotating the monster dipole
down that way.

We were also without hot water for several days, but even without our creature
comforts, this was a terrific 9-day group effort.

Please join me in wishing Martti a very happy 70th. His contributions to this
hobby are remarkable and still continue on many fronts.

Very 73, Dan, K1TO/J70TO
