Well, I succumbed to the PVRC pressure to do NAQP to support our effort in the
NAQP CHallenge. GO PVRC! BEAT SMC!
That was interesting - and humbling. Several times, I wished the amplifiers
were on! :-)
I've never done NAQP seriously (and my last "casual effort" was from
VY2 many years ago). I have a LOT to learn. I definitely should have done
more rapid S&P early in the band openings to pick up multipliers. The rate
would probably have been better than running for a little while.
I only had one hour over 100 - and that was mostly running on 80. The QRN
picked up around 0200Z, causing difficult copy on the low bands for the last
couple of hours.
Most of my efforts to move multipliers on the high bands (20/15/10) failed. My
moves between 40/80/160 worked out much better and I picked up several states.
15 was disappointing and 10 almost non-existent. I did a lot of band changes
trying to get the rate up but things seemed slow.
Look for us in two weeks as a M/2 in NAQP SSB!
Thanks to John Evans, N3HBX, for letting me use his great station again. It
sure was a nice opportunity to work off some rust before WAE CW Weekend. I'm
finally completing the transiton to N1MM Plus - next weekend's WAE CW will be
my first effort in WAE with it.
