Comments:
Not much time for VQP this weekend, esp. on Saturday. I figured it would be fun
to just run 5 watts on CW for this event. Worked well - all but one (who was
not hearing others well either) answered my calls. Received answers to a few
of my CQs late Sunday. LOTS of QRS Va slow speed CW ops throughout - but glad
they got on!
Only two Bonus stations worked. Contacted just one mobile, KT4KA, in two ctys
(on Saturday). Apparently, Bonus stations and mobiles were very hard to come
by on CW! Only on for last few hours Day 1 ... 40m yielded just 1 of 24 Q's
then. Poor propagation &/or band had begun to go long. Day 2 on for start
and near end ... 40 & 80m both in good shape then. Interruptions at
contest's end on both days had me miss trying 160m.
More CW stations and more CW mobiles should be encouraged for future VQPs,
please!
IC-706mkIIG @ 5 watts to 88' doublet up 40' on 40/80m; low OCF dipole up just
below 30'; N1MM+ Logger, K1EL WinKeyer USB and Vibroplex Deluxe paddle.
