Comments:
Only a fair performance tonight. LOTS of noise on the bands at my QTH. I tried
making a run, but the noise was so high that, although I heard several calling,
I couldn't pull you out of the noise. Surely did wish for either a boatload of
beverages, a Waller Flag, or a red phone hotline to your shack! But, I surely
do appreciate all the efforts put forth by this mighty group.
'Twas great to work Dan, OK1DIG, on 40 meters. Mercy, what a good signal.
Now, a personal note.....and I hope I can count on my CWOps friends to share a
special moment here. Tonight, I had a longer than ordinary email from my
long-time dear friend, Martin Jue (MFJ Enterprises). Many of you know that,
back in the beginning, I used to help Martin etch circuit boards in a hotel
bathtub, then drill holes in boards for kits of the CWF-1 (CW Filter) and other
early products. He has always been a kind, genuine, soft-spoken friend who
never acts haughty. Just a down-to-earth guy. His wife, Betty, and I taught
junior high school together...and she is such a dear lady. Well, just
recently, they discovered a serious health issue with Betty and she is
recuperating slowly. I won't give details (at least, not yet), but I know many
of you have MFJ products in your shacks. And, maybe you've met Martin at a
hamfest or elsewhere. So, if you're the praying kind of person, I know Martin
would appreciate your prayers and support. Just honor his privacy. If/when I
get updates on Betty--and Martin allows me to share--I will inform you,
probably via the CWOps reflector. But, for now, please keep my kind friend and
his wife in your thoughts and prayers.
Until next week...
73,
