Comments:
After operating from the Northern Latitudes in most of the last seven
Sweepstakes - I finally got to experience conditions under the Northern Lights
(at least in person). Spectacular displays before, during and after the
contest. Bands only sounded "right" for a few hours on Saturday and
near the end of the contest. Very limited SO2R actions since mostly - there
was only one band open at any given time. Funny how 40 meters really took a
dive for much of the night.
Took the last 30 minutes off - and remoted back into Oregon and gave out some
QSOs on 80 meters as fresh meat. Conditions sounded much better there!!
Many thanks to Rich, KL7RA, for the usual hospitality. I can check aurora
viewing off of my life list now. Was afraid I would have to go to Fairbanks to
finally see it - but it came South to me.
