Comments:
I never participated in the CQ WW SSB contest before, but thought I'd try today,
hoping maybe to log a QSO with one or two new DX countries. Given how popular
the CQ WW contests are, I expected to hear a lot of DX stations on the air
(assuming the bands were open), but what I DIDN'T expect was for many (> 50%
I think) of those DX stations to hear me. :-)
My low 40m doublet and 100w is not exactly a flamethrower on 10m, 15m, and 20m
where the action was today, but man it was fun getting replies from many of
those big DX stations. Ended up with 38 unique DXCC countries in my ~9 hours of
operating (according to N1MM anyway). Way exceeded my modest expectations.
