Comments:
The score represents only operation from FM 19. I had plans to operate from a
location in Avon, NC and do some work on a property there. Upon arrival Friday
evening the rain was there along with strong winds. During a break in the wx
Saturday morning I mounted the antennas on the upper deck and then the rain
came back along with even stronger winds! Such fun. Never heard a signal on 6
meters and only managed to work N3NGE on 2 meters from FM 25. I heard him well
enough on 432 MHz. but he could not hear me.
Given the WX reports for Monday in FM 19 I decided that despite all the fun I
was having in the contest from FM 25 I would leave the Outer Banks on Sunday
mid-day to avoid driving home in the slop on Monday. Of course Sunday morning
down there the winds had died down, the rain had stopped, the sun came out, and
the surf was great. After the 7 hour drive home I got on for a bit from FM 19
just on 2 meters and 432 MHz. to hand out a few QSO's.
Have not figured out how to submit the "grand total" of the 2
separate location logs to ensure N3NGE gets credit for his FM 25 QSO. He
should even if I don't include the prodigious FM 25 effort! K4MHZ had warned
me about VHF contesting from down there without big antennas and higher power;
lesson learned!!
