Friday evening Ah climbed on CQ's 160 train before dark.
Could already see there weren't gona be
any sunshine on this trip, lot's of dark clouds.
Anyhow, first got in and started running up
and down the train looking fer a good seat.
Finally found an empty seat, set down, and
right away Ah could see ain't gona be
much of a view out the windows, they
all fogged up wid static.
Ah spent all night waving at everybody
and sometimes they could see me waving
but lot of times Ah could not tell
if'n they man or boy. windows just too foggy.
Anyhow Ah spent de whole night waving
out those foggy windows, kept think'n
it would clear up, but no joy.
Wanted to say HI to everybody but
just couldn't find a clean window.
Well, come Saturday evening and Ah done
decided Ah ain't gona spend another night
waving through a foggy window.
But joy to de Man! Somebody done cleaned
all de windows and de view was great.
Now that not to say everything was rosy.
Few times a guy in EU would try to be friendly,
jest kept waving, but even looking through
a pair of 850ft , wide spaced wires in
each 'eye', just not able to be really friendly.
Oh well, anyhow it was a beautiful night.
But being too old to stay up all night,
Ah went ta bed and staggered out at
my 4 a.m.
Now at 4 a.m. ain't too hard to find
a seat in the JA car, so I took first
empty seat I find. Obviously car wasn't empty,
but aint nobody smoke'n and ain't nobody
talk'n real loud or using bad words.
Well Ah am riding along enjoying the view
and thinking Ah really getting my money's
worth on this trip. All the time knowing
that come bout daylight a broadcast station
is gona crank up real close by and
the smooth ride will be over.
However, bout that time train must
have hit a big bump cause all of a sudden
I done get knocked outa my seat. guess we
must have went through a tunnel.
When I looked up there was this really big
guy standing wid his foot on my neck.
He looked down at me like,
"Wat Ya do'n here boy?"
Well, Ah guess ya know what I was gone
tell him. Ah gots to my feet and I
shock my finger at him really hard and
Ah say, 'Hey Ah been here fer over an
hour!" and he jest looks at me n'
don't even smile. He jest goes bout
his business like Ah weren't even there.
Well Ah got up and found all my stuff
and went off down de isle look'n fer
another seat.
Ah guess it just my good day
after all. Even on dat crowed train
I lucked up on a nice big seat what
had a big cushion and de windows were
really clean.
I spent the next couple hours waving
to de guys in JA. and they were really
friendly. Was best seat I
ever had for this 160cw game.
Now that I thinking bout it, Ah really
sorry Ah shook my finger at the big
guy. He just out trying ta make
a living like de rest of us.
Little late in my life to be reminded
that in most cases it lot better to
just ignore the big bumps and go on
with my life like it may be a favor.
Guess not much changes around here,
VE1ZZ had to wake me up again.
Marlene will be on the mic in couple weeks.
Ah tell her to wear a helmet,
but she thinks all she got to do is smile.
It's really great to be able to
invite the whole world into our
little house for a weekend.
