Comments:
This was another portable operation from Concord, Ca. (EB ARRL Section).
I was quite disappointed in the lack of hearable Japanese stations. So we
non-JA stations had to call CQ to attract JA participation. The participation
seemed lacking this year, altho I did enjoy the contest overall.
The station consisted of an ICOM 7000 and Yaesu FT-900 - used alternately in to
an HF2-V Vertical with a dozen radials favoring the North West.
Some local RFI on 80/40 could not be mediated by the FT-900's crappy noise
blanker - ICOM 7000 digital NB to the rescue. The plummeting solar flux and
K=3 noise levels didn't help.
I got to test-drive to a new version of the WQ6X prefecture Tracking software,
which I may release for general use later this year.
It was nice to work JE1CKA himself at 04:44z.
CY'all Next year and in the JIDX SSB contest in November.
