Comments:
This was my first arrempt at CQ160CW as a Single Op, having served once before
on the NI5T Multi Team.
My main interest was in testing two new beverage antennas (aimed at Europe & JA
land) for better receive. They performed as expected and made copy of weak and
QRM plagued stations much easier than on the dipole.
The contest definitely highlighted the lack of a decent transmit antenna.
Busting pileups on S&P was difficult to impossible, and very few DXC's while
running.
The early part of Friday night was lots of fun with decent rates, but as time
wore on, and especially Saturday night, things were slow and boring.
If we had a "run" out here either night of Europe of JA's, I didn't observe it,
only hearing a handful of stations from each area. My lack of experience could
be part of that, not being sure when & where to look for those higher mults.
