Well I can only call this effort - Not Ready For Prime Time
Had a niece's wedding that caused me to stop 6 hours in and by the time I got
to restart, it was well past Prime Time for 20 and 40 so it was a battle from
then on to get as far as I did.
Missed FIVE mults this time: ID,NV,UT,SD and NT. Kept hoping for some kind of
back scatter - mystical sporadic E thing but it did not happen and the score
somewhat reflects it. Sunday, I could tell that some activity drop was there
as the SSN was dropping and football game watching was on the rise. Worked a
LOT of 001s and under 10 serial numbers and for those folks, I thank you very
much for being there. Having used my 'time off' period to attend the wedding
and festivities, there was NO sleep for the weary and it was a LONG Sunday till
that 2200 UTC hour finally came. This year was with the new SteppIR DB18 so I
felt that other than the missing of 40 meter prime-time, it was a great help.
Also the radio was new this year and having the 200w of use on the FT-5000 and
still in LP added to the fun.
Always a fun contest no matter what and I DON'T think I have any weddings in
the near future for next year - but in case, I am going to FB all my relatives
and tell them next OCT is out of the question and please plan accordingly.
WN6K, Paul
