Comments:
K3 @ 100W ; Win-Test logging
TX: Inverted L and sloping Marconi wire
RX: Short/custom bi-dir. Beverage ; EWE ; Hi-Z 2-3 array ; plus a couple of
other "specials"
QSOs: 68% via CQs. Never heard KH6, KL7, or any DX outside of NA. Very
little Caribbean heard. Only DX worked was C6ANM, FM5CD, XE1RCS, and ZF2AN.
Heard CO2QQ, but his signal was very weak â?" bouncing around the edge of the
noise level -- called him many times but no QSO. Surprised to never hear KV4FZ
who is almost always a sure QSO.
US/VE: worked 47 of the contiguous U.S.A. plus D.C. â?" never heard NV.
Worked QC, ON, MB, SK, AB, BC, and PEI.
Got a late start on Friday due to headset/mic becoming intermittent then
failing and having to rig/wire a replacement assembly. If it was CW, there are
plenty of paddles and multiple keyers in the shack -- no problem. :)
The K3 plus RX antennae made for good copy on most stations. Still, CW is so
much more pleasant to use and my favorite mode by far. The wide bandwidth and
overlapping QRM on phone is very tiresome and also makes it more difficult to
find and hold a CQ run frequency with low power. Yet, when one has some
version of the "top band disease," any contest on 160 is to be enjoyed as much
as possible. :)
Thanks for the Qs and Ms.

Gary
