Comments:
No crossed bananas for me. This contest has convinced me that I'll never switch
from AFSK to FSK. I used N1MM with the integrated FLDIGI digital window. That
interface is so slick and easy to use that it won me over. An advantage of AFSK
is during S&P you don't have to precisely tune every signal. Just roughly tune
the signal at a reasonable offset to the VFO in the waterfall -- I used a
mental window of 1800 to 2100 Hz -- and click the tracks with the double mouse
cursor. Sometimes I'd get two signals in the window and could work both without
retuning.
The other nice thing about FLDIGI is the Signal Browser. It's similar to a
"skimmer" for RTTY. If the signals in my wide passband weren't too strong, I
would use a 2.4 KHz filter to get a wide waterfall. I'd tune a signal and work
the station with Browser running. While I'm working a station Browser is
decoding the other signals, highlighting the ones who are calling CQ. Once my
QSO was done, a quick look at the Browser showed me the next signal and
callsign to work next. Made it convenient to move on to the next signal.

I'm a fan. Score and QSO rate was a reflection of my low dipoles, not the
software, that's for sure. Best 10-min rate was 42 per hour.
Mostly S&P and some CQing. I used the old "lying in wait" trick and called CQ
when I saw another S&P'er working his way up the band. When he was in a QSO I'd
go upstream and call CQ so he'd hit me next. I snagged a few mults this way.
