K3, KPA500 with Racal MA144 navy ATU.
250ft wire, sloping down to the NW and fed in the shack against half a dozen 60
ft radials.
Logged by hand, so apologies to those I called as a dupe!
Very nearly gave up after the first night, however things improved on Sunday
morning, although no propagation to the far west. Still nothing near the past
couple of years. Best was CE1/K7CA, an excellent signal. I set up for the JAs
at 2130 on Sunday night and was called by one but too weak and too many clicks
to resolve. Failed to raise ER, ZC4, A6, YB, 5N despite literally hours of
trying - the wire works OK to the US but unless propagation is red-hot I still
need something else to cover the east, as confirmed by the EU and NA reverse
beacons.
So - less than half last year's score, but I probably couldn't have expected
much more at this stage of the cycle. Thanks to all who called during my
favourite event of the calendar.
73, Peter G3LET (M5O)
