Comments:
Whewâ?¦that was rough. The exact opposite of the SSB version back in March. EU
was weak, fluttery, and very difficult to run all weekend, while JA was scarce,
except for a nice run on 40m Sunday morning. Completely missed JA on 15m â?"
never heard a peep (or dit) from one. Did manage a good run over the pole on
20m Saturday night, but most signals never moved the S-meter.
Saturday afternoon around 23:00z was very close to a radio black out. All
bands were dead, except for a few weak signals on 20m. I had no choice but to
take an unscheduled break and hope the bands would quickly recover. I kept
hoping the geomagnetic storm would subside before the contest was over and
bring back the DX, but I donâ??t think the K index ever dipped below 5. At
times it was as high as 6. Brutal.
All of that said, a big congratulations goes to Chris, KL9A at NK7U, on a
fantastic score under very difficult conditions. Great job!
Thanks to all for the Qs!
73 de Mitch, K7RL
