It was more like a social event than a serious operating contest. Wonderful
weather was an incentive to spend more time outdoors, and less time keeping
one's back side firmly planted in the operating chair. We all took long breaks,
including KK7YL ... who managed to do most of her spring planting. We'll see how
well her garden does with that early planting ... particularly with the forecast
snowfall predicted for tomorrow.
EEH, AGAIN? Please excuse the poor copy on 15-m and 10-m. The rotor was stuck
on that tower for just those two bands. Situation was a major handicap due to
forced use of long-path, or worse yet ... off-the-side of the beam to JA's, SA,
and others. We could hear them, but could not work them (too much competition
without ability for direct-path propagation). Fortunately, that beam was
pointed at EU with the result that when good 10-m and 15-m EU openings
occurred, we succeeded ... of course we still had to get past the "East-Coast
Wall" (New England Hams are much closer to EU than are the West Coast Hams).
END RESULT: Few Asian contacts and low score; but a statistician might
gleefully discover a near-perfect "Bell Curve", given the number of contacts
made on each band.
It was fun. Thanks for your patience and for the Qs!
73, Tom - K7FA (on behalf of the group)
