Comments:
Condx definitely getting better, especially on 10 mtrs.
Big storm moving thru SoCal brought bad rain noise at times
killed some good JA runs for the Lo Pwr guys.
After running a half dozen contests using WinTest, program just
blew up and caused us 5 hours of troubleshooting grief, leaving us to operate
with no keyboard Function key sending. ( Should have stuck with CT for DOS as
always getting bit in the butt with Windows Contest Logging Programs !)
500 foot ENE direction beverage, although with a 200 ft dog leg to South,
performed very well on 80 and also helped on 160 and some other bands at times
- Wish the neighbors on these 1 acre SMALL lots would understand when we want
top put 8 ft wire supports on thru their front lawns !)
K3 worked it's magic getting rid of noise but APF still a bear to adjust,
especially in a pileup...might be worthwhile when chatting with a weak stn,
leaving more time to adjust, too critical of a adjustment for contest work,
the FT-1000D "Gold Standard APF" still wins out ergonomically and practically!
K3, Ten Tec Centurion Amp, 3 El SteppIR at 40 ft, 2 El 40 Yagi at 46 ft, 80 mtr
Coaxial Stub Dipole at 40 ft, 160 mtr Full length Inv V Dipole just 10 ft above
roof of house on 950 ft hill near Fall brook CA.
