Comments:
Just a week after the CQWW CW , as a member of IR4X team, I asked hospitality to
Claudio I4LEC in order to enter the ARRL 160 as well.
Due to the lack of a proper RX antenna, the only help came from a 2 meters
loop, the real challenge was listening to the weak ones on the TX antenna: a
double L with 57 ft of vertical side and two horizontal parallel lines, on top
and base, 100 ft longs.
First night I had great difficulty due to the strong static noise, while the
second night conditions were considerably better, contrary to my expectations,
no real pick was noticed at sunrise.
I spent most of my time running on a given fq. and doing S&P on the 2nd VFO.
Perhaps, given the setup, it would have been appropriate to do more S&P and
less running. Anyway it was very funny!
A big thanks goes to Clay I4LEC and his XYL Francesca for their delicious
hospitality...
Setup:
TX: IC775+PA+double L
RX: IC756proIII + 2 Mt loop
Microham MK2R+
Cu in next one!
