Comments:
A few anxious moments Saturday afternoon - Frank N2FF and I were placed on the
YCCC team #1 just one hour before the start of the NAQP CW test - and long
after K2QMF registered us on our hooting team.
I sent a quick e-mail to K1TO who was able to get us off the hook just 15
minutes prior to the deadline.
After all that, with my new K3 broken and on the bench, I started with my 20
year old Ft-1000
but it developed a problem in just a few minutes. So I swapped it out to my
little FT-900 which made the trips to Aruba for the past 15 years, and still
works well. But I lost pretty much the first hour switching gears.
15 was workable and even got a few good ones on 10 meters, after checking it
every half hour, it was sporadically open as late as 8 PM local time. With my
stealth dipole and low power I could not establish a decent run on 20, but 40
was rocking, 80 was real noisy but signals were strong.
I worked all 50 states, plus KH6 and KL5, ( on all bands combined, not a single
band of course) missed 6 of the rare Canadian provinces,Took an hour dinner
break so missed my target of 600 QSOs or 100 K points. Wait until we can work
with sunspots and/or beam antennas.
LOTS OF FUN - NO FREQUENCY FIGHTS! TNX
