Ugh.
My gratitude to John N3HBX for letting me into the Poolesville, MD QTH. First
time back since this past spring when I had a massive case of contesting
overdose/hangover.
Things started out great with a personal best 125 the first hour. Then crap.
Bad conditions, no real band openings of note, low run rates on Sunday, and, to
top it off, I overslept my alarm by 60 minutes and lost a good 45 minutes on Day
2. Luckily the thunderstorms stayed from the immediate area. Unfortunately, a
thunderstorm rolled through nothern Maryland and southeastern Pennsylvania
which was directly in the line between my QTH and Europe. I couldn't hear
squat on 40 or 80 on Sunday afternoon/evening until the storm passed out of the
way by 2300z.
Last year was tough with 180 QSOs on 80 and 50 on 10; this year was worse with
100 on 80 and 15 on 10. Thank God for 40 meters....
Nice scores from K1LZ and AA3B. Im expecting big numbers from W1UE who I was
continuously chasing all weekend and NY4A who was all over the place...
