Comments:
Hi All:
Another great ARRL fd has happened. For the VE6EX ALBERTA CLIPPERS group it
was a reasonable improvement of score (783)over last years (735) Q count. This
year we had "Youth points" and last year we had traffic points. This year we
had super deep cycle batteries 2x6v plus a bunch of other car batteries/
helpers; plus solar panals x8. Super low consumption dos pentium 150 on
inverter power with a real monitor you can see in the bright FD type conditions
with flawless TRLOG doing all the work. phew!!
Kenwood ts850sat at 100w (did'nt have to cut back as the batteries started
to slack). Antennas were tribander on a "shorty" FD type support, coax fed
wires for the low bands. Only 5 q's on 15 HI.
Best dx was vk4 on the bottom of 80 cw answering my CQ FD in the wee' hours
off a dreadfully low 80m dipole HI! Copying the FD message was a bit if a sweat
tho'. Totally minimal VE6 participation as usual compared to a ton of VE7's.
Cheers, Dan..
