Comments:

Seven grids were activated, EN24/25/33/34/35/43/44, and between the pleasant
weather and great tropo, a very good time was had. Many of the uW contacts were
S9+ SSB ... very cool. Activity level was good with stations taking advantage
of the tropo on Saturday with all the rovers activating rare grids.

In the land of Rovermania, some have asked how many different rovers I work,
how many times I work them, and at what range - here are calls with total
number of Q's with them in (): W9FZ/R (16), KC0P/R(14), N0UK/R(12),
K0HAC/R(12), N0HZO/R(9), KC0IYT/R(8), WB0LJC/R(5), and N9TTX/R(4). That makes
a total of 80 Q's with fellow rovers out of a total of 361 contacts, or about
22%. I never physically saw any of my fellow rovers albeit it KC0P/R and
N0HZO/R were in my "neck of the woods" on Saturday and our contacts were at
about 5 to 20 km (est). Most of the Q's with KC0IYT/R were made right at the
end of the contest at about 30 km (est). The remaining contacts were typically
a grid square or two away and in the 60 to 200 km range.

Regarding UHF contesting, besides the usual VHF contests, there are three
contests where we can play - the ARRL UHF contest, the ARRL 10GHz & Up Contest,
and the SBMS 2.3 GHz & Up Contest. These last two use distance scoring. When
you look at the trend for logs from 2003 to 2007, the UHF contest has been
GROWING (140, 169, 183, 191, 166(dip)), the 10GHZ & Up has been DROPPING (142,
136, 131, 115, 115), and the SBMS 2.3 & Up has grown.

If you participated in the contest last weekend please send in a log. Paper
logs are OK and forms are available on the ARRLs website if you need one.

73, Jon
