Comments:

That felt like an unusual contest. I operated only on 6M.
To partially differentiate what it's like to operate this contest from Nebraska
vs. those closer to Chicago and the more populated areas further east, I'd
thought that I'd do a QSO breakdown vs. distance from my location. The numbers
using metric "round numbers" appear to tell a better story than the round
English system numbers that I tried (all are 6M QSO's):

  0 - 100 km (62 miles) - 22 QSO's
101 - 500 km (310 miles) - 20 QSO's
500 - 1,000 km (621 miles) - 7 QSO's
     1,001+ km (622+ miles)- 31 QSO's

There just aren't many people active around here. Similarly, there aren't many
people at mid-distances either. I know that there are hams like WD0T (who I
worked from his DN94 location) who can only dream of being as close as I am to
the "bigger cities" around here. Anyway, it was hunting down those greater
distance contacts that kept me from falling asleep during the contest. Most of
these contacts were via weak scatter propagation. There was a quick Es opening
to the west that produced a single QSO with NT6K CN91. My few QSO's with Texas
may have also been due to a short weak Es opening. I never had enough MS to
produce more than a couple of contacts...
The strong winds on Saturday kept me from wanting to rotate my larger Yagi much
until late at night. Sunday had me diverting my attention to other things at
times as well as the football games distracting others.
