Comments:
Rig here is IC706, inverted L (30 ft high), city lot, 6 x 220 kV power lines,
the closest one within 120 ft, DSL line within 20 ft, cable TV within 10 ft. I
have 4 radials and a hill 150 ft high, less than 1000 ft to the south. FYI in
the area of Toronto there are 12 AM stations broadcasting 24/7 with 50 kW each.
Surprisingly in this contest one can have a lots of fun with a setup that
retired broadcast engineers would call pathetic- at most. I could run, I could
break the pile up of 3E1A and KV4FZ, but the most I enjoyed was, that I could
call CQ anywhere in the band -in or out of the DX window- without being
ridiculed for key clicks or the sort of by the big gun owners of the top band. I
could even keep my run frequency, well its the gentleman's band. If it were up
to me, every day there would be a contest on the top band.
OK, just kidding. Thanks to ARRL, fun contest. Thanks to everyone, who answered
my calls.
73, George VE3NZ
