Comments:
Pretty fun contest. Had to shut down a few times because of
REAL close lightning. Had storms rolling through here most
of the weekend with 3+ MORE inches of rain. This destroyed
most of the possible tropo enhancment, except for AA4ZZ in NC on 2, 222 &
432 near the end of the contest. Most of all the other tropo was
within the 350 mile loop. I was VERY HAPPY to have a first "clean
sweep" with my rover friends K0PG @ K9ILT. I worked them on all
of my 5 bands in all of the 10 grids squares they operated from.
Of course 1296 was the most difficult with 10 watts from my
place and maybe 10 watts or less from Tim and Pat off the top of their
car. We completed QSO's from 3 "far out" grids over 150 miles out on 1296 with
the best being out over 216 miles, but these could only be completed on CW!
Long live CW, and it was great these folks are good CW ops.
Six meters was good with 300+ Q's and 108 grids... but not as good as last
year.
