IC735 + timewave59+ (+ HB 4CX250 power amp - 400W- 50% of the time)
OB6-3M tribander at 40' - dipoles at 60'
mixW 2.12 + MMTTY on a 2nd PC.
A good one despite the conditions... The 27 hours format is original and seems
to have been made for the Europeans to finish on 80m...
No W on 15, but fortunately the "sporadic E" was there to give some interest to
10 and 15m. Once again good conditions to JA on 15 and 20.
The reason for using the 735 was that I wanted to keep a close hear on 6m
openings (also had fun on 6m-CW during the contest). Of course, I suffered a
bit on 20/40 from the lack of IF narrow filter, but the AGC of the "timewave
59+" helped to decode weak signals when a strong nearby station was blocking
the receiver AGC. Otherwise worked several hours with the transceiver barefoot
(as the bonus for working DX is not tremendous, I would have stayed LP, should
power classes existed).
Many 5band Q's this time... essentialy SP stations...
At the end, taking into account the time and energy invested, I am more than
happy with the result;-)
See you soon on the bands... 73's Patrick
